This weekend’s Trifecta challenge, if I got the dates, correct: A 33-word example of personification.
In my lap; draped over my arm; stretched across my chest , paws beside my cheeks. They say you can’t. Animals don’t have emotions they say. Your eyes bathe me with love anyway.Love

Excellent…love this.
Peace, Siggi
Ahh, thanks. I love your avatar, btw.
This is beautifully! I am still wondering, how could you manage to express such a beautiful thought in only 33 words! Excellent work!!
Thanks, Arindam. I think I do best with a word restriction to keep me from babbling nonsensically!
Who says they don’t have emotions. After all, humans are just animals on a different branch of the evolutionary tree. Of course your poetry says it way more felicitously than this biologist’s prose.
Thanks for dropping by, Sandra. Always a pleasure to hear from you.
They are wrong, of course animals emote.
We agree, of course. Thanks for taking time to comment.
paws against cheek. keeps the beast but shows the love.
Thanks! You got it.
Love or hunger! Good one.
With this beast, hunger is loud and unmistakable.
awwwww this is so sweet <3
Thanks!
This is really nice. Thanks so much for linking it up!
Thanks for all that you do!
Aww,this is so cute:-)Pets are such great companions & a source of love!Love this one Linda:)
Thanks so much!
Thank YOU!
Yah, Linda! If some of these stares are not love washes, my cat has some sort of meditative disorder! Plus, what’s this need to be in the same room as me, preferably on my lap no matter how much I wriggle and reach.
Love washes. I love it!
I can’t agree more. Love this!
Thanks so much, BrownGal!
I love this. Of course animals have emotions. Only someone who’s never lived with an animal would think that they don’t. Especially dogs.. oh my gosh. And that cat with the glasses video that Scriptor put up – so cute. Your link was worth waiting for.
Thank you so much, Steph. You’re the second person to mention waiting for my link. Is it loading properly now? I hope?
Nothing beats a cuddle with a dog. Nothing!
Well, unless you’ve got a cat to cuddle with!
Really being owned by any animal is tops. Thanks for dropping by.
Immediate images of my sweet kitties. They are creatures of love. Loved your piece.
Dear CatWoman:
Write more about love and cats;
Both stir and touch our senses.
Pgrrrrouw!
Thanks, so much!
well done.
Thanks!
Aaahhh! Well worth waiting for the new link!!!! Animals are beautiful creatures and add so much to our lives. Of course they have emotions. The rubs and purrs I get every time I come home from work, tell me all I need to know. Great work!
So hopefully the link worked this time? I’m a bit mystified. Thanks for your kind comments.
Makes me miss Paco! Gussie (dog) is a cuddler, but she just hasn’t learned to purr yet, she does smile however! You captured them beautifully in just a few words!!
There’s definitely magic in that prrrrr! Thanks, Glenda.
I agree – pets can show emotions. Love is my favorite because they are excellent cuddlers
I am always moved by how animals respond to the loss of one of their own. I’ve observed them grieving. I know science says they don’t, but I believe they do feel emotion. Elephant grieving is a very visible example.
This is one of the best things you have written, Linda. You not only capture the feeling of joy and the deep emotion of love; you connect them to the physical presence of warmth, comfort and touch. And you’ve put all that in 3-dimension poetic prose.
Wow. Did I really do all that? Thanks!
You’re a poet and don’t even know it;
that might be the best kind.
great poets create from the heart
and the soul, much less from the mind
Aw, this is so lovely Linda! Makes me think of my kittie that passed away a couple of years ago – no one could cuddle like her!
Oh. I feel the emptiness. My kittie is getting on in years. I don’t like to think about the inevitable.
Better not to think about it, in my opinion – just enjoy the time that you have. Life’s more fun that way.
Well said.
Amazing what you convey in 33 words !!
Ah, man, you make me feel good. Thanks.
This is very good! I believe animals have more humanlike characteristics that we give them credit for. And I know mine have emotion. When they’re happy they’re very loving But when they’re mad they’re really mad.
Boy, isn’t that the truth! I’ve been backed into a closet by an over-stimulated cat. They can be quite fearsome.
On a related note, I think you’ll enjoy this video:
And this one:
Oh my! What a great video. You’ve got me scoped! And also, thanks for the heads up on the link. I don’t know what is going on. I’ve been having troubles with WP. I see the x beside my link, but when I click the link, it takes me to my post. I tried redoing it from the Trifecta webpage and still it doesn’t look right.Dunno. But thank you, thank you. Your kind words made me day.
You’re so nice, Linda. Truly. I’m so glad and so lucky to know someone like you here on WordPress.
This is beautiful. I think you need to check your Trifecta link though, it gave me an error message when I clicked…You should probably delete your first link and reenter it again. I’d hate for people to miss this because of a linky mishap!
You really should write more, Linda. This IS beautiful…
