Moving is generally a royal pain in the ass. But sometimes its necessesary. I’ve been increasingly unhappy in my old location on Blogger. I like the look and usability of blogs I follow on WordPress, so here I am, checking the wiring, painting walls, sewing curtains, pulling weeds, and watering the garden. I suspect this will be an ongoing process. I hope my readers will find me and will speak up with suggestions and complaints about the new look.
After a week of exploring and fiddling, I’m still not happy, so please be patient while I continue to move the furniture here and there. I’m painstakingly going back through each of the posts that moved from the old site, resetting images so they show up properly and trying fix formatting problems. Alas, I find that there are many imbedded HTML commands that mess up font color, font size, and font spacing. It would take me a lifetime to fix each of these issues. Instead, I will continue to catagorize and reset images, but ignore the font problems. Hopefully all my new posts will be up to snuff.

Hey there!! You did it! I hope you’re more comfortable over here and find what you’re looking for…I still don’t know that much but whatever I have learned I’m happy to share. I LOVE the theme you picked btw, and that photo at the top is stunning. Really goes with the name of your blog. Kudos!

Thanks, Dia! Sure didn’t take you long to find me! I actually wasn’t quite ready to go public yet, but I guess WordPress thought I was ready. I’m still trying to fix some strange things that happened to posts that I moved over from Blogger. I’m not real happy with my side panel. If I can’t figure out how to reorder the items (widgets?) on it, I may decide to change themes, so don’t get too used to it. I think I will stick with the photo, though. I do like that.

I didn’t expect to be public so quickly here. I’m not finished tinkering and figuring everything out. But, I’m glad you like the theme. I may not stay with it, but it’s a start. Thanks for dropping by.

Oh, I love the looooong view in your photo. Space gives me delight. Welcome to Word Press. Some blogger friends in South Africa switched over and I’ve not heard a complaint. They have some words about their old platform! 😀
Thank you for finding me and for leaving such a welcome comment.

Thanks for swinging by to take a look. I’m still learning my way around, but the comment/reply format on Word Press seems worth the move.

It takes a while to get used to WordPress, so don’t worry. (I’m over her via Priya’s blog and your old one, by the way). I’ve been blogging here for nearly two years and I remember how much of a pain it was to begin with, but you’ll get used to it in time.
I’m also using this theme – it’s lovely! 🙂 Have you discovered the ‘excerpts’ yet? I’ve a bit of help about those in a page in my blog somewhere if and when you’re ready to get to grips with them!

Val, I had a comment about your challenge almost completed when my computer shut down for an update. Grrrrr.
Anyway, thanks for the encouragement. I’m eager to look more carefully at your site. I’ve been there, but not explored it as much as it deserves. I think “excerpts” must be the blocks of textual links in two columns on your home page? I think Bronxboy also uses them.
I plan to download your challenge image to my desktop as inspiration, but I seriously doubt I will come up with anything worthy…at least not in this decade. It’s always good to have lofty goals, though. And I love the challenge. I know it will generate some amazing work. I appreciate your brief tutorial on formating poetry in WordPress. Great information to know about.
Thanks so much for stopping by.

I finally knuckled down and spent some serious time trying to figure out how to format this blog page the way I envisioned it. It’s getting closer! Not perfect, but better.
Let me know what you think of the changes.

WordPress is a delight once you get all the bells and whistles. Welcome. I don’t believe I ever met anyone from Idaho 🙂

Thanks, Cin. I do like WordPress, although at times I get disgruntled navigating the formatting options. Idaho is a big state with not so many people. Now you know one!

I look forward to hearing about your transformation from Blogger to WordPress. I’m pretty frustrated with Blogger, though I did figure out how to get the “reply” function going …
I may want to follow your lead some day …

Sybil, my move was pretty seamless. WordPress has a LOT of features, and they change things up frequently so at first it’s a bit overwhelming to get used to the platform and where everything is.
I was able to transport all my previous posts from Blogger to WordPress. They were originally formatted differently so they don’t look as nice. If you read one of my old posts in the archives, you’ll see what I mean. But really the process wasn’t that difficult. I’m far from being a tech head.
I’ve helped several of my local writing friends get the WordPress sites off the ground, so if you run into problems, maybe I can help. Let me know if you want an email address.
