aspen trees, autumn, Fall, nature, photography, Redfish Lake

A brief glimpse between the trees; Stanley Basin, flanked by new snow on the Salmon River Mountains.
Early snows usher fall into the Idaho mountains. During my night of camping at Redfish Lake, rain translated into a brilliant dusting of snow, visible between the trees in the morning, but vanished by afternoon.
The aspens were just beginning their brilliant dance of color before hunkering down for their long winter snooze.

Mount Heyburn (elevation 10,200 ft) on the left; Horstman Peak (elevation 10470 ft) on the right.
How does fall arrive where you live? Do you enjoy the season?
You’ve near got me packing my bag and looking up flights!
Regards Thom.

Indeed they are. I wonder why I enjoy fall so much more than spring.

I enjoy the colours and the freshness although not the heavy winds that blow the leaves off the trees. Colour changes seem quicker this year, maybe points to an early winter, which does not impress me much with regards to the cold but like the snow after the dull brown that dominates the landscape after the pretty colours disappear. Love the yellow aspens mixed with the sage brush and golden grasses, very similar to the landscape here in the province of Alberta, Canada.

What a beautiful area you live in. I love the mix of trees, from the tall pines to the gorgeous aspens. Can’t believe you got snow already! The leaves are just beginning to change here, still lots of green at this point. I’m ready for some cool, crisp, fall air!

Up high we got snow, but even where I was camped, it was just rain. And in Boise, where I actually live, we’re a long way from snow. The leaves are just beginning to turn down here. I love this time of year.

Aspen have to be the most photogenic of trees and you did a beautiful job of capturing them. –Curt

Amazing photos. The trails look a little narrow. Was it hard to take these photos?

Hah! This is the part where the trail was really nice and easy! I didn’t include the photos taken higher up, where my poor navigation skills put me on the “goat trail” the peak baggers use to summit Williams Peak! Thanks a lot for dropping by and leaving a calling card. 😉

Oh. At least you were able to tell the difference. I wouldnt have been able to tell the difference.
Oh. Are you going to display those photos too?
No problem. Thanks for having me.

Well, I was thinking of highlighting my stupidity and lack of route-finding skills with those images. 😮

Beautiful images Linda! It’s all about shooting for me right now … fall comes and goes so quickly. We are getting great colors here on the Western Slopes … all the rain this summer kept the foliage healthy.
