I’ve been honored with another author interview. This time from the Idaho Writer’s Update (IWU).
“The Idaho Writer’s Update was founded in 2007 by Betty Rodgers in Boise, Idaho. The IWU goal is to reach every writer, reader, bookstore, publisher, school, library (you name it!) in Idaho with useful literary information and updates on related events and news.”
They scraped the barrel and found me. I’m honored to appear among far more accomplished authors than I. Click the link above to view the interview.
My Life With an Enigma available from multiple book stores as paperback or eBook.

“Scrape the barrel…”a little self-deprecating don’t you think? I liked the article , you were very honest and I did not know about your routine or how you viewed yourself as a writer. I would find the whole process terrifying.

Ha, ha, Jane. I find the process challenging. But the self-promotion part is terrifying! Thanks for your kindness.

Vielen Danke, Ursula! You know, you are a big part of this book, although you don’t take up a lot of space between the covers. 😉

Fabulous interview! And, I agree with Jane… no need to put yourself down. You are an author and a writer, and you have a book to prove it 🙂 I enjoyed reading about your writing routine.

Thank you Janis. It may take the rest of my life to grow into that heavy moniker. 😉 Glad you enjoyed.

Very good interview, honest, and I now know more about you than before. I have a huge admiration for a little self deprecating. You talk from the heart. ( a good one)

Sorry Alli. I’m really struggling with this. I prefer to savor my small successes privately. But that doesn’t sell books. And I do need to sell to offset my expenses. 😩 I could use some coaching. ?

Couldn’t we all!!?? If I ever find perfection I promise to let you know! In the meantime I just look at ways to both express my creativity and do better each time than I did before. That, of course, doesn’t always happen. But I continue on my personal journey always striving to remember that I can’t compare myself to anyone else because I am me and they are them and we each function in life as individuals. You are shaped by your life story just as I am by mine. And if someone finds yours fascinating enough to want to interview you and thus share you with others, then yay you, right? 💗

Well dang it, Alli. That sounds so simply logical. Why do I struggle to embrace logic? Grrrr. I’m workin’ on it. Really, I am.

Maybe because life with an enigma didn’t always leave a lot of room for logic? It’s one of those attributes we have to develop. Jumping to conclusions is so much easier!

Actually, since I wrote that last reply it dawned on me that I actually enjoyed the interview and I’m very pleased with the outcome. But having to amplify it on social media like this feels cheap and tawdry. But this is the reality of publishing independently. And I knew that going on. I just need to suck it up. Thanks for forcing me to do a bit of soul searching. ❣️

Congratulations! Unless one has written something and floated it for others to scrutinize, one has no idea how gratifying it is to receive recognition like this. BTW, I’m sure they didn’t have to scrape anywhere near the bottom of the barrel.

Blowing one’s own trumpet is very hard for an introvert – but this is a great interview and you managed to sound the right notes (in my opinion at least). Well done! And yes – I don’t think a taped or recorded interview would have been half as good. Bravo, Linda!

Thanks, Cat. I admire writers who can be as verbally articulate as they are on the page. But I’m not one of them.

There’s absolutely nothing shameful about promoting oneself 🙂 … there ought to be more of it, I say. (if it’s done right that is. 🙂 )

Thanks, Widdershins. It feels very tawdry to me. But I know you’re right. Thanks for the encouragement. There’s a lot of it in the Twittersphere. 😮
