This sums it up for me today.
I’m sure in no time at all, the campaign energy will be transformed into the Christmas shopping madness. We switch from one track to the next with the ease of a satellite being thrust into a new orbit.
I’m glad Obama won, even though I’m not an American. American presidential elections are important for the rest of the world, as well as the country’s own citizens. I wish more voters would realise that.
Val, I know that if it were up to the rest of the world, Obama would have won by a landslide. Our world has shrunk to the point that the leaders of the largest countries can have a resounding affect upon the people in the rest of the world. It is important to have calm, thoughtful, and consensus seeking leaders.
I’m glad Obama won, too, and I’m a Canadian. Now if he can just fend off the layers of influence and negativity…he may have a chance. I wonder – those who dislike him…do they really think he has the power to act on his own? Methinks there needs to be a more concerted look at who is doing what. That’s what has to be unravelled and revealed. May he be able to do it.
I think too many Americans tend to look at the President as representative of everything that goes well and everything that goes badly during his administration. Rarely, do people recognize that a leader steps into a raging river with a current that was set in motion years ago and by other forces. As people in the path of Hurricane Sandy should know (but too quickly forget), you will die if you swim against the current. You have to be patient and steer your destiny to the place where the current breaks or weakens and only then can you alter your course and save yourself. But I think Obama haters tend to hate the message and the symbol of Obama as president. And they often have been fed incredibly bad information about him, his administration, and world events.
I’m happy Obama won, too, for many reasons. They include the fact that he can keep working, uninterrupted, and won’t need to spend months putting together an entire new cabinet and staff. The country doesn’t need any more disarray.
Thank you for stopping over at my place to check out my Freshly Pressed piece. You are right. Things are in full swing for the holidays. *takes a deep breath* I’m not ready. Nice to meet you!
